Laning-Young Research Library
The Huron County Chapter of OGS does not have a library. We work cooperatively with the Firelands Historical Society, and some of our members volunteer and assist researchers at the Firelands Historical Research Center/Laning-Young Research Library. This library has a collection of local historical and genealogical materials and is the repository for Chapter records for Huron County lineage societies, the Ancestor File, and other resources compiled by the Chapter. A Wi-Fi network in the library provides access to the Internet.
The Norwalk Public Library has many genealogy and local history resources, including newspapers, city directories, atlases, DAR and DAC lineage books, and obituaries, for example. Contact the library (see link below) for their policy on handling genealogy requests.
