David Wilkinson SHELDON and Julia (RHODES) SHELDON settled in Greenwich Township, Huron County, Ohio, in the early 1830s.
David W. SHELDON was born 10 February 1804, in Cumberland, Providence County, Rhode Island, to David and Viana (WILKINSON) SHELDON. David Sheldon, Sr. was born 2 December 1769, in Cumberland, Rhode Island. His wife, Viana, was born 18 November 1768, in Cumberland, Providence County, Rhode Island. She died 2 July 1833, in Cumberland, Providence County, Rhode Island. His great-great-grandfather, John SHELDON, was an early pioneer of Providence, Rhode Island, in 1600.
David W. married Juliette (Julia) RHODES on 3 August 1828, in Attleboro, Bristol County, Massachusetts. Julia was born about 1809 in Massachusetts, to Reuben and Julia (CLARK) RHODES. David and Julia SHELDON moved to Greenwich Township, Huron County, Ohio. In the John Sheldon Family History, there is some evidence that David SHELDON, Sr. accompanied his son David W. to Ohio and died 1839 in Fitchville, Huron County, Ohio. They joined other SHELDON relatives. His uncles, Isaac and Rufus SHELDON, and his brother, William Fenner SHELDON, all settled in Greenwich Township, Huron County, Ohio.
To David W. and Julia SHELDON, eight children were born. The oldest daughter, Mary Anna, was born about 1828 in Massachusetts. She married Mason O. GREEN, son of Adolphus M. GREEN of Greenwich Township, Huron County, Ohio, who later moved to Livingston County, Michigan. Mason and Mary moved to Dover Township, Fulton County, Ohio, about 1870. Mary Anna died about 17 February 1871 or 73 either in Fulton County or Huron County, Ohio. The other children were:
Charles H., born in 1830 in Massachusetts, married on 4 September 1862, to Sarah A. VANNOAH in Huron County, Ohio, and died on 11 May 1892, in Greenwich Township, Ohio, of pneumonia.
Daniel F. was born 7 September 1832, and married Mary Jane HUNTER on 3 July 1854, in Huron County, Ohio. He married a second time to Estella STAPLES. He died on 13 July 1887, in Fitchville, Ohio.
Stephen was born in 1836, in Greenwich Twp., Huron County, Ohio. He died on 4 March 1905, in Norwalk, Ohio.

He was a carpenter by trade. Both Reuben and Alanson were soldiers in the Civil War, serving in the 191st Co. G., Ohio Volunteer Infantry.
Julia (RHODES) SHELDON died in the 1860s probably in Fitchville Township, Huron County, Ohio, where they are shown living in the 1850 census with six children. At age 71 years, David W. SHELDON, the father of all the above children, married Mary S. KING, daughter of Archibald and Elizabeth (KOCHER) KING, on 20 December 1875, in Lowell, Seneca County, Ohio. They had one son, Isaac Truman SHELDON, born 19 September 1876, in New London twp., Huron County, Ohio. In 1900, Isaac lived in Fort Sheridan, Lake County, Illinois, in the military in Co. L, Reg. 5th Infantry. David SHELDON died on 12 June 1877, in New London Township, Huron County, Ohio, and is buried in Fitchville Township.
